A Flood In The Most Unlikely Spot
As many of you know, I lived up in Duluth, Minnesota during my undergrad. For those unfamiliar with it, it is situated on the corner of Lake Superior and is one of the most important ports in the Great Lakes.
Anywho, the entire area is on hill. I mean in a period of maybe two miles, the elevation drops 1,000 feet... it in some areas it drops even steeper than that. This is a shot of one of the easier roads to get up on the east side.

Well the last day or so they have gotten a ton of rain and the entire city is flooded. It is completely strange because it has one of the steepest elevation changes for a city in this country, yet some areas are completely submerged.
A polar bear and two seals escaped from the zoo as well, luckily they caught both of them.
Thought I'd share some of the pics because I know some of you guys find these sort of things interesting. I just cannot, for the life of me, figure out how a place like this is flooded so badly.

That is insane! I'd imagine the dramatic elevation changes made parts of it worse, especially in the lower elevated areas
I don't like making plans for the day, because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around in the courtroom.

My aunt there says her basement is a swimming pool, but the rest of her house is OK. Says she is about a block from where the road disappeared. My cousins house is fine though.

Yeah, this is how a buddy of mine got out of his house

The Interstate 35 tunnels, note that the part of the retaining wall just above the water is about roof high on my Monte
