I'm 31 and knew about Chernobyl.

Good thing I went to Oahu on my honeymoon and actually visited Pearl Harbor or I would have thought it was just a movie as well

I kid of course about Pearl Harbor. It is pretty cool out on the Memorial that you can still see tiny amounts of oil still leaking from the ship.
I don't like making plans for the day, because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around in the courtroom.

Another famous ship sinking (albiet done by the Royal Navy in WW2) is the sinking of The Bismarck. That thing had massive guns and after sinking The Hood, the Royal Navy decided to unleash hell on waves to sink that ship.
I used to have a big thick book by Bob Ballard on his discovery of that wreck. Helluva story too.

That Chernobyl doc has a great watch.

Are there any more like it? Or anything on Pripyat? Everything I'm finding on YouTube is either old, short or badly done.

But I did find and currently watching 'Surviving Disaster' Chernobyl by the BBC.. abit weird hearing people speak flat english though.

I'm sure that had Pearl Harbor not started the actions of WW2, alot of people probably wouldn't know about it either. I'm starting to realize that politics are certainly a bigger part in education than what it was 10, 20, 30 yrs ago. You've got states like Texas and California who tell teachers what they can and can't teach in history classes and that ain't nowhere near right. I don't understand what politics have to do with making and getting history right. Like they've always said "You can write new history but you can't rewrite history"

Sadly we were never taught about it in school either.

I had 1 decent history teacher over the years and only had her class for 2 years. Would love to just sit and talk with her about things.
