I like what Nascar has done in the past few years. Everything said should stay in place, except for the racing back to the line on the white flag lap. Every other racing series or short track races back to the checkered flag, it'd solve all the incosistency for when the yellow is called on the last lap. Just let them finish the race, slow down and miss the wreck.

Talking about things that could change or be done different, I feel that a small block V6 that puts out similar power to the restricted V8 could do away with the plates. Yes? No?

They would blow up left and right. Back in the early 90's BGN (now Nationwide Series) used to use V6 motors and they would pop because they just couldn't take the stress. Also they put out enough power that they had plates on them as well. NASCAR phased out the V6's because the cost of using them kept going up. I doubt that they bring them back now.

If the engine sounds the same why not, but I dont think it would sound the same.

Well then the obvious answer is to use an engine that falls between a V6 and a V8. Bring the V7 to NASCAR!

Taking away cylinders doesn't inherently reduce power. A 350ci V8 and a 350ci V6 will be very similar on power.
The only way to reduce power is by a decrease in air/fuel. That is accomplished by either shrinking the bore or stroke, creating a smaller camshaft or blocking the amount of air and fuel allowed into the engine via a device such as a restrictor plate.
I've always wondered why they don't simply run cams at Daytona and Talladega that are about .250 lift and 200 degrees of duration. :P

I always thought they should paint the scoring lines and race back to those after the white.

With EFI, couldn't they replace restrictor plates with a new ecu for the EFI system that limits fuel pressure?

Id imagine the issue with that would be that the ECU is too easy to hack into and change.

Well, here is the 2014 Impala to dream about.

I like the nose area, but the rest looks as bland as the Impala has for years.

I don't mind it. Certainly an improvement over the current Impala.

I think the Impala looks more like the new 2013 Fusion if anything, with just a different nose.

I was thinking Buick LaCrosse with a Honda Accord front end. But anything is better than the currant box (except for the previous box, anything but that dreaded thing).

To me the greenhouse and window design just says Fusion to me, but the generic quarterpanels and side could be anything I suppose lol
