Thanks! Trying to see what brand of helmet he is using.
Also, Jimmie Johnson's helmet might be the ugliest thing I have ever seen. The design isn't so bad but the helmet itself is just gross. I'm not sure what Simpson is going for with that rectangle visor and antique pivot kit but yeash.
I had pics of TJ Bell, just not his helmet. Some of the drivers that had plain generic helmets (Scott Speed) most likely were just given a helmet for the shoot. I know Scott has many tricked out helmets.
As for JJ wearing that helmet design, I know a few others wear it as well (Robby Gordon comes to mind). Drivers often try out helmets to see if it fits them. I guess that helmet just is more comfortable to JJ then others. I know in 2010 all the Hendrick guys tried out Stilo helmets. None of them liked them, but Kyle Busch and Joey Logano use them.
JJ has been using the unmarked Simpson for a couple of seasons. Just surprised that if he likes the fit of the Simpson why he wouldn't wear the Air Inforcer like Bayne, Stewart and others.
Interesting tidbit that I recently learned, NASCAR doesn't allow tear off posts on the visors because they say the post can catch the seat in a wreck.
Denny Hamlin is also using a Stilo helmet (based on a photo in the 2012 #11 thread), which is a change for both Logano and Hamlin from last season. I'd like to know where you got the great shots of Kyle Busch's helmets, and if they had any other drivers like that?
Clint has a very cool helmet this weekend. Honoring a "local" guy at Daytona for Speedweeks.
Anyone know what the green eyeball with the bat symbolizes on the back of Clint's helmet on Page 1 of this thread. It's the helmet he brought along to get photo'd during Media Week at Daytona.
What is the deal with the "Halo" type of helmets that are coming around more and more? More comfort?
What do you mean by Halo helmet? The forced air tube on the top? If so, it creates more airflow through the helmet, if done properly, than the conventional side air piece. Some helmet companies put a large pad on the top of the helmet like a normal non air or side air helmet would which actually molds to your head over time. It is great for comfort, but once it molds to your head, air flow is essentially cut off. Our inner pad is channeled so that doesn't happen.
