    Question about Windows

My question is, I had a friend tell me that games have better performance with Window XP than Vista. So I wanted to ask if anybody can tell me if I would get better FPS for NR2003 if I'd switch to XP or would it make no difference that I should just stick with Vista? Thanks in advance.

Depends on your hardware. He's probably assuming that you have the bare minimum amount of RAM installed for Vista to run on and thus the game will suffer. 3-4 gigs of RAM would run the game decently on Vista depending on other factors.

Do you have a video card or onboard graphics? If onboard, is it an ATI chip? Intel chip? Also, single, dual, or quad core and manufacture/product name of processor?

My laptop runs Windows 7 with 6GB's of RAM, a AMD Turion dual core at 2.3ghz, and an ATI onboard chip with 256mb's of dedicated memory. I get 50-60 frames with everything on high when it is docked and 40-50 with just the charger plugged in.

Honestly, NR2003 was the only game I seen a boost in XP over Vista, however upgrading to 7 solved that.

In my experiences XP runs everything better. I have 2gb ram, 500gb Hd, AMD Athlon dual care 5000+ (2.6ghz per core) and my video card is nVidia GeForce GT220 with 1024mb of memory. I ran NR2003, MW2, The Sims 3, rFactor all at half to 3/4 of my native resolution with game settings at about medium and averaged about 30-35 fps for those games. That's when I had Vista. Once I switched to XP my fps for all of my games nearly doubled (with max game settings and native screen resolution) and overall my PC was noticeably faster. I've yet to try 7, and I think I'm going to in the near future.

think it would be helpful for the OP to post his current system. Also, question is how does NR2003 play on Vista now? Are you just looking for more FPS to say "cool"...or are you actually having stuttering/graphical issues.

Programs like Game Booster may help low end system (slightly) but mid/high range systems would not benefit.

For starters I have 6 GB of RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ What I am looking for is to run everything maxed out and was wondering if VISTA would help that.

    What kind of processor?

I have the exact same setup as far as GPU and RAM and have never been able to max NR2003 out, yet others with slower systems and better systems can.

Windows 7 may be more resource intensive, but it's also much more organized and structured than XP ever was.
