    Kyle Busch

Ive never been a fan of either of the Busch brothers, but today I watched Kyle put on a show at Lanier Speedway here in Georgia that was pretty impressive. He was racing in a 200 lap super late model race, 35 cars started and he qualified 7th. If youve never been to Lanier this wont sound impressive, but anyone who has been around Lanier will understand. He passed 5 people on the outside ( you just dont do that at Lanier very often--someone forgot to tell Kyle--lol ) and moved into 2nd during the first 100 laps. They had a 10 minute break and then inverted the top 4---so he restarted 3rd. Within 4 laps he was in the lead and never lost the lead. I never saw him lay a bumper or fender to anyone, he dodged several wrecks and ran some of the most consistant laps I have ever seen--Im not sure he missed his mark getting into turn one more than two or three times all day. The only time I saw him mess up was when he tried to celebrate after the race---his celebration kind of...ummm... sucked--LOL. Kyle had a new car and Im sure he had all top dollar equipment, but the guys he beat had all of that stuff too. Shane Seig was there driving one of Billy Belew's cars--with Richie Wauters as crew chief. Jason Hogan was there--finished 2nd. Jason is a local 'star' who has raced in many series and has deep pockets for racing, he also has some sort of tie with Kyle Busch Motorsports. So, as much as I would like to say that Kyle just out spent the competition--he didnt. He just flat outran them, and in the process he impressed the heck out of me.

I haven't been to Lanier in forever... I'll be moving up that way soon, so I'll be sure to make a trip once in a while. Regarding Kyle, I'm always impressed by him. I'll hardly root for him, or Kurt for that matter, but I acknowledge his awesomeness when necessary.

Kyle did a great job today, never touched anyone that i could tell.

I was pulling for Casey Roderick, I wish his transmission wouldn't of came apart on that last restart. Don't think he had anything for Hogan or Kyle, but would of been cool to see.

Great day at the track for sure. Being a fan of kyles I am a bit biased but I was impressed at the way he handled the fans wanting pics and such and during the auto session him and bill elliott was quite pleasent. Great to hear Kyle on the radio, he was very pumped to be running a super late model and running it quite well at that.

I bet the track did not even have to give him "free ribs for life" to show up either.

    Re: Kyle Busch

I saw him do something similar at All-Star Speedway in a PASS SLM race back in June of 07'. He wasn't so clean that time, but it was impressive the way he was just driving around people up top. Like Lanier it's not a track where you see that a whole lot. Say what you will about his off track antics, but he knows how to wheel a race car!

EDIT: And wow, that really sucks for Maine racer Ben Rowe. The team's trailer lift gate broke, and they couldn't get the cars out for the race without risk of not being able to close the door. Definitely not something one would expect to happen.

Was a good race.. He was the only one that could really make passes on the track. The GAS series race was a wreck fest!

LOL--if the blue 15 hadnt been in the race it wouldnt have been so bad. That man caused at LEAST 3 cautions by himself.

    Re: Kyle Busch

The GAS race was horrible due to the choose rule IMO. They didn't enforce it at all. They were suppose to choose with 2 to go til the rs. It seemed like every caution they were choosing when it came out, and the first one to the spot got it.

    Re: Kyle Busch

I think the problem with Kyle Busch is that, it's not the no one likes him, but like most fans, unless it's your own driver, you hate to see him win so much. Kyle Busch is one of the best racers out there. His problem is, that, he's too good. So everyone that hates him, just is mad cause he is beating their driver. I think if people would get past that, and open their eyes a little, they would notice that he is a heck of a driver, that can win in almost anything, and possibly have more respect for him.

I think deep down, most fans respect him for his abilities on the track, but like it was already said, they don't like him because he beats their driver. It's like me, I'm a Gordon fan, and ever since Johnson and Edwards took over, I don't really like either of them, although I do repsect the talent they have.

I thought most people didn't like him for the way he acts off the track. He's a great driver and he would have me as a fan if he wasn't so hard to root for lol

    My thoughts EXACTLY!

I actually would like to be a fan of his. He is young and dynamic and without a shadow of doubt the best pure driver out there. Would Carl Edwards win if he was driving for Yates instead of Roush? Look how much better Jr ran once he got his hands on good equipment. In the case of Kyle, I don't honestly think that equipment matters with him at all. You could give him a bucket of bolts and he will drive the wheels off it. He wins no matter what he drives or who he drives for. Give him a truck, a latemodel, 360 sprint or frickin go cart and he will find a way to get it up front. It's just that he will be all in your face in doing so. Talent and style wise, he is freakishly like a young Dale Sr. Perhaps he should study some old Dale tapes however and realise the fine line between aggressive and hard charging, and a straight up jerk.

I gotta disagree. You can find some great articles, and stories on Kyle Busch working with kids, or other good deeds. I think the reason he comes off as a jerk, is if things don't go the way he likes during a race, because he is young, the emotions get the best of him. I mean just look at Bristol. After leading 75% of the race, he got bumped out of the lead. That would make anyone upset, but Kyle was not able to and he just showed his emotions more than any one else would. I know this is said numerous times, but everyone says drivers show no emotion. Now we have one, yes a little whiny at times, that shows emotion, and everyone complains.

But people still don't like Jimmy Johnson and he is a great driver and a "choir boy" off track

Exactly, people got mad when no drivers showed emotion, now when somebody does show a bit of emotion they still get mad. You can't please some fans.
