Wow...as if on cue...Jayski posts what happened to Runt. Weird!

Runt Retires: Shelton "Runt" Pittman the Head engine builder for #4 Morgan McClure Motorsports retired after the Daytona 500 race. He was one of NASCAR's premire engine builders for many years. He will be sorely missed at MMM racing and the entire racing community.(3-18-2004)

    Okay I got one.....

What ever happened to Clark Dwyer? I think that's how you spell his name.

Last I heard of him was back in the 80's when Geoff Bodine was driving Cliff Stewart's #50 Pontiac (Geoff's Rookie Year was 1982). Clark was driving for Roger Hamby in the #17 car that was White and Orange and sponsord by Hesco Exhaust.
He was one of the youngest guys out there at the time and was basically running with the veterans kinda like Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers are now.

This one oughta stump some people

Yep.. you are right. He drove for Roger Hamby in 1984 in the number 17 sponsored by Hesco Exhaust. He also drover for DK Ulrich that same year in the #6 Buick (US Racing). He then drove for Elmo Langley in the #64 Sunny King Ford and Honda T-bird in 1985...

I am doing a little research on this one. I will have an answer by this afternoon. I plan to get this info "straight from the horses" mouth....

Lennie Pond does work for Heritage Chevrolet. He lives in Chester, Virginia.

I just called his house and asked...... You know me.... Just call and ask....LOL

As far as I could tell, he is doing well and not really involved in racing any longer.

I bought my Oldsmobile from Heritage.

That is where I used to go to get Earnhardts autograph. He was there before each Richmond race Earnhardt always acted like a though.

Just found out about one of the guys I asked about a few days ago...Tim Steele. Dang...I heard about the addiction to pain killers after his wreck....didn't know about the coke though. :o

Steele Back Racing: Tim Steele always thought it was the race driver who needed to tame the track. Today, in a fight to reclaim his life, Steele, the three-time ARCA/REMAX Series champion from Coopersville, is hoping the track can tame him and his addiction. "I had the world by the tail and cocaine took it all away," Steele, 36, said before taking the track Saturday night at Berlin Raceway, a track where he was Rookie of the Year in 1988. "When I finally hit bottom I realized all I had given up. It took racing away from me. It took my family away from me." Saturday's 100-lap double late model feature at Berlin was Steele's first competition since last June in the ARCA Flagstar 200 at Michigan International Speedway and his first race at the local track since 1990. It came less than two months after the end of his self-imposed stay at the Hazelden Clinic in Minnesota for a cocaine addiction that had spiraled out of control and thrown a red flag at his promising track career. Steele, with the financial backing of his father and the HS Die and Engineering Motorsports Team, parlayed his two years at Berlin Raceway in 1988-89 into an ARCA ride, which soon produced three championships. Continued success took him to a run on the NASCAR Busch Series, to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 1999 and to five starts atop NASCAR's peak, the Winston (now Nextel) Cup. In 1993, Steele racked up nearly $135,000 in winnings on the ARCA circuit. In all, he's won 41 ARCA races and 31 poles and secured three MIS victories in 11 starts at the two-mile superspeedway. He and Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre were discussing the possibility of forming a Winston Cup team. Then Steele's career crashed. He got hurt at Atlanta Motor Speedway in November of 1997. Part of his recovery included the use of pain killers. "When I got off (the pain killers), I substutited one drug for another," he said. "Toward the end, I was using drugs every day. Every minute of every day. I hit bottom when I got sick and tired of being sick and tired." Last week, Steele traded his ARCA machine to former Berlin racer Chad Blount in exchange for Blount's late model Berlin ride and the chance to run again every week for a Berlin Raceway points championship.(see full article at Michigan Live)(5-19-2004)

Looks like he's hanging around the Busch garage... Jayski has him listed as a part time driver for the 55 car.

Wonder what Bobby and Donnie Allison are doing? I was at a Chevy dearlership in Birmingham meeting Dale Earnhardt and I saw Donnie standing over all by himself so I went up to him and talked to him, heck we talked about 20 minutes about all the old races between Bobby, Donnie and Cale, really a great guy, very friendly....That was the Friday before the Tally race when Ervan got into Marlin and put Dale Earnhardt into the wall at 200 MPH, my heart stopped!!, I was in the tower right above and saw Dale get turned head on into the wall...thought we lost him then!

Last time I saw Mike McLaughlin, he made a start in the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series last year at Nazareth (because Mike Stefanik couldn't run). After that, I don't know what happened to him.
