Its interesting in hindsight that Kahne had something that had to do with Hendrick on his car during his rookie year

I've always wondered why the two Evernham cars showed up at Rockingham with plain red cars and not the sublimated Dodge logo scheme they ran the rest of the year.

My guess is they never touched the race winning car from the year before, because if I remember the 9 won the race in November 2003 at Rockingham.

nah idk about that because the 2003 Dodge nose was completely different than the 2004 version.

Actually common misconception. The '03 & '04 noses were the same, Dodge just branded the cars differently between the 2 years. The slapped Intrepid stickers on it in 2003, but in 2004 decided that Stratus stickers looked a whole lot better. But, for whatever reason, they labled the '04 one as a "Dodge race car." My best bet was that the Charger was coming in '05, and they didn't want to market a new model for just 1 year alone.

The ironic thing about that is that when the COT came along, they did that exact thing with the Avenger

The thing with the Avenger was they really were planning on making that the new model for NASCAR, but fans argued that the RWD Charger fit the series better. So Dodge listened and brought the name back for 2008.

I think I have a 2008 Kahne diecast with Avenger light decals and Charger name plates. Or vise-versa. Can't remember, it's packed away somewhere

Also noticed after Daytona 1 the primary Dodge scheme was never complete again that season. The lower quarter panel design went absent.

Avenger headlights with Charger name plates. I have a 2008 JPM 1:64 like that too. Action screwed up most of the Dodges that year.

On a side note of the COTs (and I've seen a couple to confirm my suspicions), they simply slapped Charger decals over the Avenger nose. You can clearly see the Avenger grill molding under the Charger grill decal when you investigate up close.

Did that go away with the nose change in 2011?
This signature is dangerous and inconvenient.
