I don't see it being a front wing F duct as I look further at it. The attachment point of the wing to the pylons is almost non-existent, and the amount of direction changes the air would have to do (immediate 180deg followed by two quick 90deg) don't make sense for that. In my mind, an air canopy is the most likely answer at this point.

Out of all the bump noses, this is the best looks wise. But the thing that makes RBR the best right now, is that they just didn't conform to the rules and make a bump in the nose like all others. They took that and went one step further. Great job by RBR again.

Indeed they don't. we'll see what the FIA says about this inlet though.

Although everything is always subject to change with the FIA, if there was something the FIA didn't like about it, something would have already been done. The chassis has already been to them for crash testing, plus Charlie Whiting was at the first Jerez test in order to look over all of the cars.

The nose doesn't look that bad from a distance.

Top is the new chassis flown into Barcelona for the final two days of the test. Look how much tighter the sidepods are now compared to the old version (bottom)!

Wow what a change. So instead of melding into the body they vanish into the bottom. Very interesting. What kind of time difference was there?

It's to direct the exhaust gases (you can see the exhaust coming out of the side pod just behind the Red Bull text) towards the rear diffuse to produce more low drag downforce.

Unfortunately that's the about winter testing, we never know the true speed of the cars until Melbourne. So even if it went to the top of the charts, they could have been doing glory runs while the rest of the paddock was doing race simulations. But the season begins in two weeks so we will know then!
