Super pumped to watch the battle to get into the field of 33, going to be very competitive.

I am a little concerned about the #31 team. O'Ward missed a ton of track time over the Indy GP weekend due to recurring alternator issues, and now today on Opening Day he only made 14 laps in ROP before another mechanical issue. Supposedly Max Chilton is going to go out in the #31 shortly, and then O'Ward will get an extra session at some point to get through at least the first couple of phases of ROP.

The #32 team lost both sponsors for the 500. In the meantime they have a blank white #32

Fernando Alonso crashed in practice today, he was checked and released from the care center.
The two-time Formula 1 champion walks away after his No. 66 McLaren Racing Chevrolet makes contact with the SAFER Barrier exiting Turn 3, then ricochets off the inside short chute and outside Turn 4 SAFER Barriers.

                Practice recap

The Team Penske driver still needs to feel more comfortable in traffic. Fernando Alonso and Felix Rosenqvist are uninjured in separate incidents but must go to backup cars.

Pato O'Ward crashed pretty hard in T2.

Car was briefly airborne; looked very similar to Ed Carpenter a few years back.

                    Practice Recap for today

Ed Jones tops the timesheet on the third day of practice as qualifying weekend nears. Fernando Alonso sits out the entire day as his backup car is prepared.

Not sure Juncos can recover from this.

Going to an immense mountain to scale, but I am optimistic for them. Problem is Sunday forecast is horrible. Saturday gun at 5:50 pm currently appears like it will be the end of qualifying, so they only have ~28 hours.

Yeah I saw that forecast too. Tomorrow looks to be in the high 80's; so it's gonna be a bit tricky for those looking for speed.

Good news: IndyCar will run the Last Row Shootout on the first available day, even if Sunday is washed out. Fast 9 is scrapped if it can't get in on Sunday, so positioning in the first three rows definitely matters tomorrow. But the storyline of the day will be all about who can make the Top 30, guarantee their spot in the race, and avoid the Last Row madness.

Juncos is working overnight tonight, using all their Road to Indy and IMSA mechanics, too, hoping to be ready for the 8 am practice tomorrow.

Sage Karam was spooked midday today, visibly shaken in his television interview. Hildebrand got in the car, confirmed it was alright, and Karam looked much more confident by the end of the day.

O'Ward really struggling to gain security in his backup car. Put up one tow lap at the end of the day today, but the #31 team is in pretty dire straights at the moment.

Rosenqvist still has not fully recovered from his Wednesday practice crash, but appears to have found enough speed to at least make the race.

Slowest in the Non-Tow Rank today (ignoring Spencer Pigot who will compete for the Fast 9):

                              Kaiser - Crashed
                              O'Ward - 221.898 (tow 227.513)
                              Hanley - 225.492
                              Karam - 225.533
                              Chilton - 226.636
                              Alonso - 226.869
                              Servia - 227.173
                              Leist - 227.232
                              King - 227.409
                              Rosenqvist - 227.972
