EDIT: Also, the right side of the car was wrinkled for the final 3 races. We then raced it at Myrtle Beach for the Pro Cup race!

How long can a team use a body style in ARCA? I remember with the COY in NASCAR, the limit was three years. Same in ARCA, or don't they care? If not, I'd like to show up to the track with a 95-99 Monte Carlo at a race this year. :D

So, can someone please explain something to me.
All this talk about how old a car can be in ARCA, one thing has always confused me.
I thought ARCA's rules (mind you I haven't read them) was that cars had to be based off of current style NASCAR Cup/Nationwide cars. I believed this to be true because you always saw old Cup stuff in ARCA.
Now, is that true at all, and if so, how long before we see old COT's in the field?
Pardon my ignorance.
JCTay
01-31-2012, 11:57 AM
Not sure if theres enough recycled down COTs quite yet to field another series..i could be wrong but i bet in the next 5 years it could happen. Unless ARCA sticks with the old chassis and comes up with their own new bodies maybe? Just all depends on cost i bet.
beanboy89
01-31-2012, 02:45 PM
I just can't see ARCA coming up with their own bodies to fit on the old chassis. I expect ARCA (and the K&N Pro Series East/West) will be using the current crop of bodies for the foreseeable future.
Paul8
01-31-2012, 07:16 PM
I think part of the fun about ARCA is being able to identify which drivers are running old re-purposed Cup/Busch cars. Since very few teams could afford to paint them over, some were much more obvious than others. A few examples:

There is a point where a team owner must step back and say, "I don't have enough money to compete at this level", and moves to a less-expensive series. This owner has obviously not had that moment yet.

Yeah Newberry flat got loose, went high, and took out Williams. Newberry got off easy, but Williams' car was destroyed. Sucks cause Josh has quietly having a top-10 season, and that team is truly a low-budget team. Good people there.

How long can a team use a body style in ARCA? I remember with the COY in NASCAR, the limit was three years. Same in ARCA, or don't they care? If not, I'd like to show up to the track with a 95-99 Monte Carlo at a race this year. :D
Little late answering the question, but the cut off is 5 years, so the teams can get equipment handed down to them.

Yeah Venturini is supposed to be Toyotas this season. They're officially a Gibbs development team now, so I wasn't surprised to see this. Especially since they got a lot of real fast Chevys in their fleet. They also plan on running a partial NW season in what I believe are Gibbs Camrys.
