I want to try iRacing for a month and I have a promo code for $5 for a month so I think it's well worth it. I don't know if either of my PCs will run it sufficiently. I know the iRacing minimum specs but I didn't find any recommended ones anywhere.
You think it will work on either of these machines?
Desktop:
- Pentium 4 @ 3 GHz (hyperthreading possible but not enabled yet)
- 1 GB RAM
- 256 MB GeForce 7600GT
Laptop
- AMD Dual Core @ 1.9 GHz
- 4 GB RAM
- Radeon 3100 Integrated

Do they both run NR2003 decently? Should be able to run it on either but I think you will have to play with the graphic settings a little.

I have a 4 yr old dell that runs iRacing good. Just have to adjust the graphic settings down...

The desktop runs NR2003 on the highest settings with good FPS. I haven't tried it on the laptop.
Would iRacing run on the desktop with the processor I have? Or the laptop with that integrated card?

Man, my X1650 that just died had more power than your nVidia and never could run NR2003 at full, really ticks me off. Oh well, that card is dead now anyway.

Hmm... I did a test with System Requirements Lab and the performance was actually rated better (much better) on the laptop than the desktop. This is even with my integrated graphics chip.
I fall a bit short of the recommended specs with the laptop, because of the card, but it passes minimum much better than the desktop.
I guess I just might have to try it on both.

Well not completely "full" to be honest... my screen res isn't set astronomically high and I only have 28 cars ahead visible... I prefer the FPS and I have some addons that suck up the performance.

If you use the laptop make sure you have a wired connection. I'm tired of people dropping out because 'their wireless network sucks'

Yep, it's wired up and I'm typing on it as we speak.

ok good
I got lucky, I ordered this desktop last July, but I was never planning on sim racing again. Luckily I can run everything on high without a hiccup lol

True dat
And just a warning, rookie legends sucks cause everyone is new and wrecking. Just stick it out until you can advance.

I gotta see how to set this up. I only have one desk that I can attach my G25 to, and there's only enough room for my monitor on it. I might just have to move the monitor and put it on the floor so I can put the laptop on my desk and race with it.
And don't make fun if I race as my mom until iRacing can switch the account over to my name.
Does the great Jory Fleischauer still race Legends? :D

Another question - if I only get a one month subscription, will my stats and progress stay there until I can sign up again? I probably won't be able to race much past mid-September, since I have school and I'll also be tutoring some kids for a Natural Science course I took last year.
Will the $5 promo code still work?

If you use the code now I don't think it'll work again, although I could be wrong.
Your stats will be saved and be there when you renew your subscription along with any cars or tracks you have bought.

I just want to use the code once, right now. Even though the code was posted a month ago, will it still work?
Thanks for letting me know about the stats.

Just go to the signup page, go to 1 month and it will ask you for a code before a credit card, once you apply it see if the price changes. If it goes then you will be good to go. If it does not it'll say invalid code.

Auto Settings. I just let it do its thing when I hit the Configure button. I'll try to jot them down when I have time. Race starting in a couple. 8-)

Good deal.
Word of advice. Just run your own race and try and get through without hitting the wall, or any other car
The rookie legends can be a :cen: due to inexperienced drivers. Wait till you get to the latemodels, those are fun as hell! :roxs: :roxs:
