I swear aside from inventing Windows they haven't ever invented anything. They just take other companies ideas and mess with them.

Now they've copied the Miis. That's the reason I don't own anything MS based except Windows. And don't go, 'well every company steals from others'. MS doesn't it on a regular basis, they just slap their own label on it. Bugs me

Actually, they really didn't even invent Windows, Apple did.
They may have invented the name to associate with it, but Apple & Steve Jobs were the first to come up with a windowed environment.
Heck, even DOS was stolen from someone else too...

Even though Apple had the GUI first, Microsoft took it to a whole new level, and thus today 90% of computers are running Windows. If it had not been for Bill Gates we wouldn't even see Apple around today.

We live in a world of copied stuff. Guess I'm not sure why this is even an issue to you, besides your overwhelming hate for Microsoft.

IMO, that's pretty sad if it bothers you that much..

Actually Xerox invented the GUI.
Technically thats correct - However:
The first graphical user interface was developed at the Xerox PARC (Palo Alto Research Center) in the 1970s for the Xerox Alto computer. Steve Jobs visited there when the interface was under development and saw it as the future of computing, incorporating it into the Apple Lisa’s software platform which eventually led to the Macintosh
So Apple took it when it was under development (xerox never did anything commercial with it), made into Apple Lisa, then Gates comes along, slaps the name Windows on it & the rest is history.
So although Xerox had the idea of a GUI, they didnt do anything with it. Apple took it a step further & in effect, invented a GUI OS.
If you want to take it a step further & get even more technical, Xerox really wasnt the truly first inventor.
Some dude named Doug Englebart invented something called Augmentation of Human Intellect (NLS) - lots of windows with a cursor & a mouse that was used for hypertext. This was in the 1960's. Then Xerox came along.
Before that was the concept of a windowed system introduced by the first real-time graphic display systems for computers: the SAGE Project and Ivan Sutherland's Sketchpad in 1963 - 21 years before Apple. The AmigaOS and something called GEM even came before Microsoft.
I wonder if Nintendo will file suit against them for that casue I find it really odd that they look like Miis and have the same idea... But go figgure when Nintedo gets a good idea everyone steals it. Some one knocked off Nintendogs, Mario Kart, and now Miis. What's next? The Microsoft Xii?

Does it really freakin' matter? I'm more upset that I have to keep with an avatar starting in the fall instead of having a gamerpic and changing it out every three or four months when the thought crosses my mind.

Agreed. That's the only thing that I don't like about the new dashboard.

I was more for the fact that they look damn near exactly like Mii's and the fact that everyone was pretty much pounding them for it. Sorry if I offended anyone

Doesn't hurt my feelings :) Looks like it offended you though
I know you don't like Microsoft. Being one of those that started using computers in the early 80's, I can appreciate what Microsoft has done. Many of you kids grew up having it forced down your throats that Microsoft was evil. They have opened up doors for users that probably would not be around today. Direct X has done wonders for PC's and gaming, and helped bring more hardware to the table for us to use.
Whenever Uniden comes out with a new telephone I don't rip them for stealing Alexander Bells idea. Does it matter who was the first person to make a car, or who was the best? In the end the best is what we want and we get that through competition. That is why we need Nintendo, PS3 and the 360 to maintain a level of success that will keep all three in the game. Shame Sega isn't still alive to compete in the console hardware market.

I for one don't get all the hate for Microsoft. Sure...MS probably didn't invent the ideas that drive their operating system...Bill Gates just was saavy enough to become the wealthiest man in the world because of it. Without Microsoft, computer technology would be far behind where it is today. Microsoft is the same as alot of other things...when you get to be successful people start hating you from pure jealousy, wishing they could be doing what you are doing, and doing it as well as you are. I am a proud user of Microsoft products, and even though it gives me an occasional headache sometimes, MS's problems are far least than what we would be using if MS didn't exist.
Just my 2 cents. :hi:

There is actually some rumblings about Sega and EA teaming up to make a console....just rumors..but something to think about.

I would think that Sega has learned from the Saturn & Dreamcast and are not entering back into the world of consoles.
They will strictly be a game developer & publisher. I doubt they'll ever make another console - even though the Dreamcast was amazing.

Agreed, if I had to rank the consoles I've played over the years (from the NES a.k.a the Famicom and even the Atari STe computer!) - I'd rank the Dreamcast at the very top.
I remember when I was 15 when I got the console and was just amazed at the innovations - there was Sonic Adventure which blew me away, Chu Chu Rocket, REZ and one of my all-time favourite game - Shenmue. Through the DreamArena feature, I got my first taste of the internet which was amazing to me by then.
It's sad the console had a short life but it's expected when going against the big guns and in the end Sega took a huge hit and instead focusing only on creating & publishing games. Good memories of the Dreamcast.

Dreamcast was the best system created, But the out dated technology ( 1999 to 2001 was a HUGE technology boom) the ps2 killed it, Doesn't mean the system was better.
It just was hyped and had the backing of plenty of 3rd party publishers.
