I'm liking how the wing was brought into the scheme of Edwards car.

That is sexy
It's an orgasm for the eyes from every angle.
If anybody wants to paint it, have a talk with me and we'll see the best way how to go about doing that. ;)
I guess I'm the only one that doesn't like the #99 car for next year. :o :-?

Ain't that the truth of it. I still don't understand the green, but that scheme is much easier on the eyes than the 2008 scheme is.

Yeah, the folks at Office Depot could have taken their 2008 scheme off Carl Edwards' car and given it to Smoke in 2009. I for one like this scheme a lot better, but agree that it could be just the promotional unveiling scheme instead of the official one.
As for the Old Spice scheme, it's pretty much the same look that the Old Spice cars have had for years. I like it, and am happy to see it coming to the Cup series.
Here's a pic I snagged from an JMRacing40 post:

The reds on both cars are exactly the same, so you can tell they were just thrown together. As said, they'll probably change come Speedweeks, at least I hope do because they're not that great, especially the 'Depot car.

I like the Old Spice scheme, I always have. They can work on that Office Depot scheme, and hopefully they do. I have a feeling that the cars are using the same red so that if they use the same car at two tracks, running Old Spice at one and Office Depot at the other, there won't be much work to do to swap the scheme.
skippy88
07-26-2008, 02:34 PM
actually, i think once you slap some contigs on both schemes, they'll look quite a bit better IMO.
i dunno. maybe somebody cah photoshop one of the Depot cars with some contigs... just a thought.
i also think the Office Depot car would look pretty neat using the old Spice base scheme, just different color arrangements...
and the solid red seems more like company colors rather than the nationwide's scheme has that chrome look just for effect... i can go towards either though...

I've never liked the Old Spice scheme's. The only thing I liked was the sexy red, the design to me wasn't anything spectacular. Hopefully they will come up with something different for both Office Depot and Old Spice.

I hope that the 88 has some sort of subliminal advertising for adidas if they arent not represented anywhere on the car. The media made a big deal about adidas and jr and all it is is his uniform, not even 1 logo on his car. King, if the car isnt final yet, try a 3 stripe trim or something on it next year lol. But im sure we will all see a great scheme you come up with. I just hope maybe this could spark an idea for maybe a later possible scheme. As for the 99, so far the best 09 scheme of the year, looks incredible

You wont see any Adidas logos on Jrs car. Its a driver sponsor, much like Gatorade for Johnson, State Farm for Burton, or how Vitamin Water was for Kahne last year.

i think the reason the 33 isnt as elaborate as the current 43 is is because with RCR, you lose the addition of the Petty Blue in the scheme... but thats just me. throw a few more logos on that car and i think it'll look alot nicer.

The Petty Blue went great with those cars. That car doesn't look bad, if they would just add something to the hood or make the Cheerios logo go diagonal on the hood like the 07, it might look better. They all need to put Cheerios or something above the rear tires. They could put Petty Blue on the car, seeing as Ambrose's STP car had Petty Blue on it.

While I dont agree that Petty blue should be on Ambroses car, I will say that STP has a bit more history with Petty blue than Cheerios.

It will almost surely be the same shade of orange next year.
In 1998, when they unveiled Stewart's ride, it looked nothing like what was actually run. It was dark orange -- almost red, and it had the blocky #18-style numbers. This scheme will probably change.

personally, id like to see like instead of flames, a 'liquid splash' of color where the flames are, onto a blue backdrop for the base coat... maybe even introduce a primary 'chromalusion' twist into the color splash? that would be kick-butt in my opinion...

You shouldn't be so uptight and devensive, especially when Will wasn't even "pointing you out". I almost posted the same exact thing he said, except I didn't feel like typing at the time.
The only thing wrong with this thread, in regard to what you were trying to point out, are the posts that are off topic. This is a discussion board and it's a given that people are going to comment on the schemes that are posted.
I'm not trying to be a dick, just clerifying both sides.
The 2008 paint scheme thread was started in mid-September; the 2009 thread was started in early July. This thread is going to be nothing but discussion until there is something to post.

Theres just so much wrong. The "swoosh" from the numbers and from the Hamburger Helper looks stupid. Cheerios needs to be much bigger on the 1/4 panels. BB&T should just be in white instead of that stupid white box. The scheme itself isnt bad, theres just a lot more that could have been done with it.
K_King

Whoever does RCRs stuff now, sucks.
Why'd you stop?
Well I told JRM that I would only do their stuff if they wanted me to. Plus its a lot easier on me that way.
Not to say I ever got asked by RCR to do anymore stuff, but since I have a normal job it gets tricky sometimes trying to do both with deadlines.
Usually the deadlines are needed when Im at work
For ex: 2 weeks ago I was at work and got an email that I needed to change a few things (silly decal changes) and resend renders at like 3000xwhatever.
Oh and by 2 my time. I got the email at 12.........soooooo yeah it wasn't a fun Friday.
Then again that hardly happens, just like 75% of the time  but its pretty cool to see how it works out in the end.
But back to that thing, there's people on here that could do so much better, that's the frustrating part about it to me.
Then again I know the guy who did it prolly did his best, but Ive seen a lot of "not so cool" stuff flow down the pipeline that they asked me to change, and it makes you wonder sometimes. Not saying I'm the best or whatever, my style and JRMs style just work best, but still a lot of guys on here could do that scheme at the minimum.
The only thing I can see what they are dealing with is a dual sponsorship deal. BB&T looks like they may be a bigger sponsor on that car so they tried to do the dual color look (hard). It just doesn't look good IMO. I mean a Bank and a highly popular cereal item probably wasn't the best mesh of sponsors on the car to begin with.......

From Jayski.
New look for the #24 in 2009: Jeff Gordon announced on QVC's shopping show "For Race Fans Only" that the primary paint scheme will change on the #24 DuPont Chevy in 2009. The primary scheme seemingly changes whenever there's a new occupant in The White House. Gordon raced the rainbow-themed DuPont Chevrolet from 1993-2000 while Bill Clinton occupied the highest office in the land. Gordon experienced his greatest career success in the rainbow car. In 2001, he changed to the fire and flames scheme and raced that for the next 8 years while George Bush ran the country. And now, the third -- and likely, final -- incarnation of the DuPoint paint scheme will be raced in 2009 and beyond. The new 2009 DuPont paint scheme is expected to be unveiled during the week leading up to the October 11 race at Lowes Motor Speedway.(Gordonline.com), am hearing the base color will be BLACK.(9-20-2008) Comment here

It's a banner; flat, but still a banner.
I've only seen it red, silver, and black - what other color combos have you seen?

Remember guys, this is the internet.
Everyone knows a guy who has information.
The only guy that i'd trust what comes out of his mouth in regards to paint jobs is Kevin King. considering his list of clients, and his proven track record. I'll trust what he says over someone saying "I have a source...."
I can paitently wait to see the new cars, its not really eating me up not knowing what the new 24 looks like.

However, the Martin deal was announced weeks ago, and everyone in the garage is aware of the change. Not a team to rest on its laurels, Hendrick is making some other moves for next season that may shock and surprise some: new paint schemes, other new drivers, and new sponsorship deals to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
An anonymous source provided the following information, which serves as this week’s five Quick Hits:
5. Jimmie Johnson will run a special paint scheme for his 250th career start at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in a few weeks. This new scheme, which features the addition of red to the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet, will also supposedly be run in 2009 and beyond. The scheme is a lot less “sharp” than Johnson’s current car, and features more silver than the 2008 car does.
4. In a dramatic change from the first 16 years of Jeff Gordon’s Sprint Cup career, the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet will primarily feature black, as opposed to the usual navy blue and day-glo orange.
The flames on the car will change, fading from yellow to orange, and the National Guard will replace Nicorette on the lower quarter panels. No word on whether or not Nicorette will return to the team.
Gordon will likely run this scheme in 2010 as well, after which DuPont’s contract with the team runs out. Many are suggesting that Gordon will retire after the 2010 season, or scale down to a part-time schedule similar to what Martin currently runs.
The team hopes that development driver Landon Cassill will be ready to take over the No. 24 in 2011.
3. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will run a special scheme at Daytona for Speedweeks that features the addition of silver to the current Amp Energy and National Guard car.
While it was originally suggested that the new color run the entire season, reports suggest that Amp didn’t want Dale Jr. fans to have to run out and buy new merchandise for the 2009 season. Thus, the scheme will only run one race.
The car will feature relatively minor changes to its paint scheme for 2009, with only a couple lines moved around. Earnhardt Jr.’s driving suit, however, will change in a more prominent way: the trademark Adidas triple stripe will grace the sleeves of his firesuit.
2. Klondike will move from Gillett-Evernham Motorsports’ No. 9 Nationwide Series Dodge to the No. 5 Nationwide Series car.
This team will again feature rotating sponsorships, with many of the current primaries (Delphi and GoDaddy.com among them) returning. The National Guard will reportedly scale down their involvement with this team, likely due to the shift in dollars towards Gordon’s car.
Cassill will spend some time in this car again next season, and Martin, Earnhardt Jr., and Johnson will likely also run selected events. However, the juiciest rumor in the garage regarding this team is the potential addition of Tony Stewart to the driver lineup for 2009. The assumption is that Klondike is leaving GEM to partner with Stewart at Hendrick.
1. The US Navy will be replaced on Brad Keselowski’s No. 88 Nationwide Series car by Craftsman Tools. Craftsman will not return to its primary sponsorship of the Truck Series beyond 2008, thus freeing up advertising dollars to partner with JR Motorsports.
Keselowski will use next season as another year of development, with a partial Sprint Cup schedule almost guaranteed as well. Keselowski will run 10 races in the No. 5 in 2010, with an eye on taking over full-time in 2011 for the likely retiring Martin.

lol at Kevin . . . that 90 car is going to be the best scheme next year. :roxs:
I concur on the Stanley 19 car . . . it's too plain. This year's was awesome, but they need the flames to go around to the side. It's too disjointed without them there.

i think it was more general mills wanted Clint being the face/attitude of them. Idk, I started to like Mears his last year in the 41 and last year but after this year, there is no excuse for how he has ran besides him.

I'm hoping that it's only a number & sponsor change for Clint and stays with Gil Martin & team.
Otherwise RCR will have 2 teams trying to build chemistry instead of just 1.

Exactly. Clint's got good chemistry with his team, and Casey will suck no matter who you put him with. Hopefully Mears is just a holdover until either Leicht is ready or a better free agent becomes available.
