I have an AMD Athlon 64 5400+ X2 and in r-Factor (ISI) I have a problem where it studders every 7 seconds or so and no fixes have fixed it. I wanted to know if any beta testers run dual-core processors and if they have any issues since this game uses an isi engine.

I don't think I've had a problem yet with my dual core in any game. In fact rFactor really came alive once I built my new rig.

for the GTRs and the rFactor based sims, I have had good results using a flight sim utility that shuts down as many background processes and other programs as I want. You have three options for each item running on your system, and the util gives some advice for many of them, either Do Nothing, Shut Down or SHut Down & Restart when you finish driving. Between that and using another option within the utility that defrags the system memory, I get almost always smooth gameplay. If I don't use this util, then I get jaggies several times each session.
Athlon 64 3000+ and ATI X800pro with 256mb of Vid ram and 1.2Gb of system ram.
Google fs autostart. It's like Enditall on steroids.

I think it must be the video card I have, the PNY Verto GeForce 7600 GS, I put r-Factor at 16 bit color quality and It runs very smooth, weird crap, I'll be sure to upgrade before ASR comes out.

That is odd because most 7xxx Nvidia and 800+ ATI cards run 32 bit as fast or even faster than 16bit.
But, you CANNOT beat system horsepower, A BEEFY dual core cpu, two gigs of fast QUALITY system RAM and either top of the line or just under for a vid card. Zippy has one of the UBER Nvidia 8800GTX cards and still has some issues due, I suspect, to the rest of his system. Don't forget, for rFactor at least, used the fullproc startup command in your shortcut.

FIXED!!!!!!!! Downloaded NVTweak and changed Max Frames to render ahead from 3 to 0 and now she is as smooth as a baby's butt in 32bit with everything up!! :roxs: Now I really can't wait for ASR!!!

YES, that i beleive is the same thing that a few of the developers have been playing around with. Its a app called coolbits. You do the same thing and it has helped us to smooth things way out.

I donīt get the point why there should be Dual Core or C2D issues at all. ASR will not support both cores at all unless TSR rewrites the entire code of the game where multiple process threads are beeing spread out on the cores like the SP1 for FSX does. So I doubt there will be any issues with multicore cpus at all.
I mean you can have a Quadcore CPU if you want but most games and even ASR included will only utilize one core only. Correct me if iīm wrong Zippy :)

You can do a edit to the .exe file shortcut and you can run the game dual core ;). I remember on rFactor's site there is a walkthrough for it.

The code that ASR is based upon, is not, as stated above, a multi-threaded program. But, it does have the option to run both cores with the fullproc command. While I have not seen any benchmarks, I have seen programmers acknowledge there is a gain in performance.
I don't know how/if iRacing will be addressing multicores, but I am not aware of any current product that uses multi-threading for sim racing. I am sure, at some point, this type of code will become the norm, but it will also not be a simple patch for current products.
