RGRracing pulls off the Pocono sweep, besting PRO_Buck in a head to head duel on the waning laps. RGR dominated the race, leading almost all the laps in the first two stints, but was shuffled back to fifth during the final caution pit stops. Persevering, he dispatched the 3rd and 4th place cars on the first lap of green, then drove by PRO_Christian Budd with relative ease. PRO_Buck made RGR work for it, but in the end RGR earned his much deserved victory.

Next week, we turn right and left for one more time this year at the road course in Montreal. Hope to see you all there!

Guys, I have to say that I am looking forward to this race. No other track in ASR gives the high speeds, short track bristol style feeling like Salem does, so it should be a lot of fun. I imagine the wrecks will be plenty, and the tempers should get HOT HOT HOT!!! :)

Damage is going to be turned up a little bit more on this track, I think to 40%, because it is too easy to just slam the wall on exit, and I don't want that to happen without penalty. I think the set is good, should be the same one that we ran last time we were here, so no worries there...

Quick update on the points standings... (Points first, then average finish, then bonus points)

1 PRO_Buck 3145 5.76 0
2 RGRracing 3047 7.59 70
3 ChrisM 3025 3.72 20
4 PTR_MoOutlaw 2997 2.15 20
5 PRO_KT 2978 2.88 20
6 BLori 2901 1.92 0
7 PRO_Mullin 2897 3.33 0
8 PRO_Racenut 2827 1.16 10
9 PRO_Sedlacek 2764 1.11 0
10 PRO_Brett 2750 1.39 0

Other Drivers in the top 30 with wins... (Bonus points for Chase)

PTR_86Low 10
PRO_JRW 10
slim_njd 10

Other Drivers OUT of the top 30 with wins... (Bonus points for Chase)

PureCry 20
Patrick87-NSR 10
#78_DKlein 10
Paul Conway 10

Series notes...

- 169 Drivers have made at least one start over the course of the season. We have seen 12 different winners over the same period of time.

- Over all of the races, PRO_Buck has scored the most top five finishes with 13 out of 21 races attempted, 61.9 percent of the time! RGRRacing has scored 11 top fives, out of 16 races attempted, earning him a top five percentage of 68.75! Great job guys!

- RGRRacing has scored the most bonus points of any driver, 39, with PRO_KT in second with 18 bonus points. RGR has also scored the most wins on the season, 7, placing him with a 50 point advantage over the nearest competitors once the "Chase" starts.

- RGRRacing has heated up over the summer months, winning 3 of the last four races, and seven out of the last nine races! Great job!

- PTR_MoOutlaw is looking for the Salem sweep this week, after scoring his first win at Salem earlier this year.

Good race tonight at Salem. I was looking forward to this one, and it didn't disappoint. Turnout was a little light, I thought that this track would be more popular, but the racing was top notch.

Congratulations to PRO_Buck for his first win of the season. I thought we would see the Bass Pro Ford in victory lane sooner, but he had to earn this one tonight! Buck led a lot of laps early, but a wreck ahead of the leaders allowed RGRracing to slip past late in the first stint. Buck battled back, and it looked like it was going to be too late as RGR was holding a steady lead of about a second with ten to go.

Unfortunately for RGR, a three car battle was taking place between PRO_Shriner, PRO_Brett, and PRO_Mullin, and no one was willing to give as the race entered it's final five laps. RGR got caught up in the traffic, and Buck managed to get to his outside. As he tried to get back to the throttle, RGR would nearly spin on corner exit and from there it was Buck's race to lose.

Not a ton of wrecks tonight, which was good. Rebound of the race award goes to PRO_KT, who got the wave around and battled back to fifth after a spin in the second stint. Tough luck of the race goes to ChrisM, who suffered a flat tire after contact with PRO_KT. Chris would end the race two laps down, after an admittedly difficult night at the bullring.

Next week, we are on to Texas. That's right, no week off for us! We will take off on labor day for the Sunday night cup event, so get your cars ready for a Texas shootout as we head back to the big track in the south. RGR has proven his dominance on these types of tracks, and he'll be hungry after this one slipped through his fingers.

See you there!

The PRO Open series makes it's final trip to the Iowa speedway, marking the last race before the 2010 "PRO Chase for the Cup" kicks off at Milwaukee. With the field practically set, the chase contenders are looking at this week as their last opportunity to score those precious ten bonus points for their championship runs.

Top Five Preview...

1. PRO Buck

Buck has been the model of consistency, scoring a series high 14 top five finishes in his 19 best races. Add in four top ten finishes, two poles, and a victory at Salem, and you can see why Buck has placed himself on top of the points standings. He would love another victory to try and close the gap on RGRracing's bonus points, where he is currently at a 60 point deficit.

2. RGRracing

Week in and week out, RGR has been one of the fastest cars on the track. Despite only recording 18 races that count, he still finds himself second in the points standings with a series leading seven wins and thirteen top five finishes to his credit. More importantly, no matter what happens at Iowa, RGRracing will be the points leader when we head to Milwaukee.

3. PTR_MoOutlaw

Somewhat lost in the shuffle this year, Mo has quietly been knocking out top five finishes, and move himself up to the 3rd place points position. Not the flashiest driver, Mo goes to the track to get the job done, and it shows. His first win came at Salem in the spring, and Mo is hoping to pull off the season sweep at Iowa, his last recorded victory. Mo will certainly be one to watch this week!

4. ChrisM

Chris started off the season with a bang, winning the season opener at Daytona in a wild finish, and notching top five after top five early on. After his second win at Texas, his late season performance has waned, and Chris will be looking to get back some of that lost momentum as he makes a run at the championship.

5. PRO_KT

Early on in the season, it looked like PRO_KT might have been the one to beat for the title. Scoring a wins at Michigan and Texas, KT was steadily knocking out top fives and competing for wins. Much like ChrisM, however, performance has dropped off in the face of stiff competition and poor racing luck in the latter half of the year. KT struggled at Iowa earlier this year, so he would love to get his season turned in the right direction by conquering this tricky short track.

What will Iowa bring? The track is short, and the tempers are shorter! With the multiple grooves at Iowa, drivers will be battling side by side, two and three wide as they work their way to the front. Qualifying will be important, as passing is difficult. Keeping the fenders clean will be key to winning, and don't be surprised to see the bump and run as the laps wind down.

Who will win? It could be YOU! No sign ups, no registration, just show up and race! Official practice begins at 7:00 EST, and qualifying begins at 8:00 EST! Top thirty drivers get to compete! Hope to see you there!
