The PRO Open league Season…

Starting January 31st, 2010…

From the team that brought you the Open Chase for the Cup…

NO SIGN-UP'S ARE REQUIRED! SHOW UP, QUALIFY, AND RACE!

WE MIRROR THE NASCAR SEASON AS CLOSELY AS POSSIBLE, BY CHOOSING THE SAME OR SIMILIAR TRACKS AS THE CUP WEEKEND!

POINTS STANDINGS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT PREMIUMRACING.COM

Quote:

THE PRO-Tona 500

The PRO-Tona 500 will kick off on January 31st, 2010. This will be a fixed setup, open to all race. Thirty spots will be available, go or go home qualifying. There will be 2 competition cautions at 50 lap intervals. Fuel and tires will be set to normal for this race. Damage will be set at 30 Percent.

As our inaugural, crown jewel event, the race at Daytona will feature monetary prizes for the top 3 drivers…

Winner - $25
2nd Place - $15
3rd Place - $10

RULES

Practice: 7:00 EST
Qualify: 8:00 EST
5 Minute Happy Hour
Race: 8:10 EST

1. Fixed Setups.

2. The competition caution is back! This time, however, there will be two cautions during the race.

3. Black flags only. Pit road speeds will be in effect. Racers are expected to show respect and run clean, but yellow flags on open server’s leads to more caution laps than race laps.

4. Damage will be run at 30%. In a long race without yellows, there will be some incidents. We want as many people as possible to be able to finish the race.

5. One restart within the first two laps is allowed if there is a major incident at the start. This is determined by race control, and is not up for discussion. If a restart does occur, the driver(s) that caused the restart can recieve further penalties.

6. Bump drafting. ASR allows bump drafting, even encourages it. However, bumping in the corners that lead to big pile-up’s will be dealt with harshly. We expect people to use their heads and race cleanly.

7. No flaming is allowed. Chat during the race is to be limited to calls for pit entry and exit, trouble warnings, general race chatter. Black flags and or ejection will be issued to violators.

8. Tire strategy will be 1X, fuel at 2X (except the for restrictor plate tracks, which will feature 2X tires, 1X Fuel). All races will be run at a TRACK TIME (not actual time!!!) of 12:00 PM.

9. Points for the regular season are calculated based on the best 20 finishes out of 26 races. The "chase" will feature the best 9 of 10 races run. Provisional points will be awarded for those that miss more than 6 races.

The Season…

The Race at Daytona will also be the first points paying race of the regular season. The top 30 drivers in the regular season will be eligible for the 10 race chase at the end of the year. Provisional points will be available for those that run at least 10 regular season races.

The chase drivers will be seeded by number of wins. Each win is worth 5 points in chase seeding. During the chase, drivers that did not make the top 20 will still be allowed (and encouraged!) to attempt to qualify for the races.

Each race will feature 2 competition cautions. On races with 150 laps, cautions will be at lap 50 then lap 100

On 120 Lap races, cautions will be at lap 40 and 80.

On 100 Lap races, cautions will be at lap 30 and 60.

On 80 Lap races, cautions will be at lap 25 and 50

*Subject to change depending on fuel mileage…

ALL STAR RACE…

All winners from the current season, plus previous season “chase” winners are eligible. The format is the same as the PRO mini-season. Best driver over 4 races wins the event. There will be an open heat race featuring other drivers, the top 3 drivers from that race will qualify for the mini-season.

Odds and ends...

Implementation of the wave around: The wave around will be available during the 2010 season. Cars that wish to benefit from the wave around are to pit after all other stops have been completed. These cars are allowed to get fuel only on their pit stops. This will be monitored. Those that opt for the wave around that take tires will be disqualified from the event and recieve no points.

The leader of the race must cross the line first, so the second place car has to be careful to not pass him early (if this occurs, the second place car is required to give the spot back. Further penalties can also be levied at the discretion of race control).

The leader must restart at a mandated speed (dictated by track) to keep things even.

Championship winnings...

TBA, pending funding. None at this time, but it is a long season.

LASTLY...

Why are we running Daytona on the 31st of January? Well, February 7th is the super bowl, and the 14th is both the Daytona 500 AND Valentines day. So, the 31st is the best day :)

Hope to see you all on the track!

PRO_KT makes a great pass on the outside of JG24 to win the 95 lap race at Michigan! ChrisM still holds the points lead over PRO_Buck, followed closely by PRO_KT, JG24, and PRO_Whiskey.

Be sure to join in on the action this week at Charlotte!

Congratulations to #78_DKlein as he dominates the competition at USA speedway! Despite losing the lead during pits stops, Klein would not be denied victory, both times passing the leader under green and then leaving them in his dust!

This week, the series is off for the Easter Holiday. After that, the next race is at Toledo. Hope to see you there!

After the easter hiatus, drivers are ready to get back in action for yet another short track weekend, this time at the tight and slick Toledo! This single groove track will be sure to provide plenty of excitement, and tempers, and should be a great race!

PTR_86Low dominates the field at Toledo, scoring his first win of the season. The race was marred by more than a handful of incidents, but the action was intense and the tempers were high. Next week, the series will make it's first repeat stop at Texas Motor Speedway. Will Texas bring us our 7th different winner in 8 races?

It could be you!!! Come in and give it your all on April 18th! Remember, no sign ups... EVER!

The open league takes to the high banks of Texas for the second time this year, after three grueling weeks of short track racing that crowned three different winners. The sighs of relief can be heard among many drivers, as the half mile tracks tore up their cars, their nerves, and left many thinking about what might have been...

PTR_86Low won (and finished) his first race of the year at Toledo in dominating fashion, and could be the first driver to win two in a row. Expect a strong run from team PTR at the high banked Texas track.

PRO_KT won the last race at Texas, passing JG24 on the outside to take the victory in the waning laps. After late trouble last week, he would love to rebound with a Victory in the lone star state.

PRO_Buck continues his steady run, having notched five top 5 finishes and one top 10 finish in 7 races. Although still searching for that elusive first win, Buck is second in the points standings behind PRO_KT.

ChrisM runs third in the standings, and has cooled off a little since his season opening win in Daytona. However, a strong second place finish last week may see the pendulum of momentum swinging back in Chris's favor, and he has performed well at the high banked tracks so far this year.

PRO_Howard, the fourth place driver in the standings, has been consitent in qualifying for every race, but has been spoiled by bad luck much of the season. Despite his trials, his determination is paying off, and has shown steady improvement this year.

PTR_MoOutlaw, fifth in the standings, notched his first career win in the Open league at Salem, but a string of bad luck has Mo ready to set the record straight at Texas. Missing the USA race, and then a wreck at Toledo, means Mo needs a solid run at Texas to get his car headed back in the right direction.

PRO_Sedlacek, PRO_Racenut, JG24, PRO_Brett and PRO_Zappacostta round out the top 10 in points. Each of these drivers has the potential to run up front and win races, but most have seen bad luck, wrecks, and spins put a damper on their efforts.

Join us in Texas! As always, no sign ups, and go or go home qualifying with the top 30 drivers making the show!

Premium racing online congratulates Slim_njd for winning the Talladega 80 last weekend. This week, the series heads to Iowa for another week of short track racing.

After a harrowing week of Superspeedway racing, the series heads back to the short track of Iowa, and things are bound to get interesting once again.

Bad luck struck points leader PRO_KT once again at Talladega, when late race contact sent him into the wall with only ten laps remaining in the event. The resulting flat tire forced him to pit, where he finished one lap down in the 15th position. KT leads by four points over second place ChrisM, largely because he has recorded a series leading 17 bonus points in nine events. Although KT has had trouble the last few weeks, he has been a solid contender each week, with fast race cars. Expect to see KT up front again at Iowa.

ChrisM notched his third consecutive top three finish, after a third place run at Talladega. Running strong early, Chris led forty laps before being shuffled from the lead on the last stint. Chris fought back, however, and his stats mirror PRO_KT, with two wins, five top 5's, and three top 10's to KT's two. Chris should be a strong contender this week, as he managed a top five at Iowa during last year's chase for the cup.

PRO_Buck had a decent run at Talladega, bringing his Ford home in the seventh position. Buck ran in the lead group for most of the day, before some dicing at the front caused him to lose pace with the leaders on the last stint. Another solid outing, however, has allowed Buck to close up to just 34 points behind lead KT. Still searching for his first win of the season, Buck has run strong at Iowa in the past. If he can keep the fenders on, expect him to contend before the day is out.

PRO_Howard, coming off his first top ten at Texas, followed up that finish with his first top five of the season at Talladega. Howard had a strong run at Talladega, eventually pushing winner slim_njd to the front with an impressive move on the outside in the later stages of the race. Unfortunately, despite leading 9 laps, he couldn't quite get up front when it counted the most. Still, a strong run has Howard solidly fourth in the standings, and he hopes to continue his momentum on the Iowa short track this week.

PRO_Sedlacek scored his fifth top ten finish of the season at Talladega, finishing in the tenth position. Ed has been running in the top ten in 6 out of the 8 races he has competed in, and has shown real strength at the short tracks this season. If he plays his cards right, he might notch off his first win of the season in Iowa this week.

The PRO Open League had a great race at Iowa this weekend. The incredible side by side racing at the track meant great battles, along with some of the cleanest racing the open league has seen to date!

Check out the replay at premiumracing.com! It will be posted within the next day or two in the forums at this link...

http://www.premiumracing.com/forum/Blah ... 272319183/

Congratulations go out to race winner PTR_MoOutlaw, who spent the day swapping the lead with teammate PTR_86Low. Unfortunately for 86, he got a little overzealous as he entered turn one, and lost control on the second to last lap of the race. PRO_Buck, a solid top 5 contender, couldn't quite close the gap at the end and finished second.

Join in on the fun! No sign ups are required, and the racing has never been better! Next week, we go to the slick, tricky Rockingham speedway for 120 laps of intense racing action! PRO_KT holds onto the points lead for now, but PRO_Buck and ChrisM aren't far behind! See you there!

After a great week of racing at the Iowa speedway, the series will head back to it's roots for the 11th race of the season at the slick Rockingham speedway in North Carolina.

Rockingham's old, worn out surface means that once again tire management will be at a premium during the race. Expect that drivers who abuse their cars early will struggle at the end of the run, and the smoothest drivers will be the ones competing for the victory at the end of the day.

Series Notes...

- Four Drivers have competed in all ten events so far this season

- Twenty-six drivers have competed in at least four events so far

- Three drivers have won at least two races so far (PRO_KT, ChrisM, and PTR_MoOutlaw)

- The top five drivers in points have scored at least one bonus point

- PRO_KT has the most bonus points(17), followed by PTR_86Low (14) and ChrisM (11).

- Out of 10 races, nine have been won by drivers in Chevrolets, with one Ford Victory. No Dodges, Pontiacs, or Toyota's have visited victory lane.

Top 5 Rockingham Preview...

PRO_KT struggled at Iowa with a tight racecar for most of the event, falling all the way back to the 13th position, after starting the race in 8th, during the second stint. KT Perservered, however, and due to determination and attrition, managed his 8th top ten finish in ten races after coming home in 9th. KT's only finishes outside of the top ten have come at the two plate races run this year, and both of the races ended in wrecks in the waning laps. Expect another solid run from KT this weekend at Rockingham.

PRO_Buck scored his second 2nd place finish this weekend, adding to his series leading seven top five finishes in ten races. Buck also leads the pack in average finish, an impressive 6.3 in 10 races. Buck led one lap at Iowa, but looked like he had a good shot at victory in the closing laps. This driver is knocking on the door every week, so don't be surprised to see PRO_Buck put his Ford in Victory Lane this week at Rockingham.

ChrisM saw his solid run in Iowa go up in a cloud of tire smoke as he lost control of his Chevrolet with less than ten laps remaining in the race. Up to that point, Chris had run in the top 5 for most of the day, and was challenging for the second position when he spun. Although he rallied for an 11th place finish, the spin meant that his sure spot at the top of the points standings became a one position drop to third behind PRO_Buck. Chris has proven that he can manage his car on older tires, and should be a threat this week at the Rock.

PRO_Howard had a day that he would surely like to forget at Iowa. Struggling with the car during the race, Howard managed to stay on the lead lap for most of the day, but passes were difficult on the 3/4 mile oval. A late race spin would end his day, and Howard will gladly load up and head to Rockingham for a chance to rebound.

PRO_Sedlacek, who ran well at the short tracks all year, encountered a hiccup at Iowa, After being spun out in the second stint, Ed's car would get caught on the wall at the entrance of pit road. Miraculously, Ed managed to free himself, but eventually wound of four laps down as a result. Despite a solid car, Ed would bring it home in 22nd place.

One of the toughest tracks on the circuit, Rockingham speedway was remarkably tame, with only 6 DNF's among the race's 22 starters. Low attendance can be blamed partially on the Mother's day Holiday, as well as Rockingham itself being known as a difficult track among competitors.

RGRracing dominated the event, winning the pole and leading 110 laps en route to his 1.682 second victory over PRO_KT, and scoring his first victory in the five races that he as competed in.

Series notes...

- 113 drivers have attempted at least on race so far.

- Only one driver, #78_DKlein, has competed and won in a single race.

- Top 15 Lap leaders...

1. PTR_86Low = 297 Laps

2. PRO_KT = 163 Laps

3. #78_DKlein = 130 Laps

4. PTR_MoOutlaw = 117 Laps

5. RGRracing = 112 Laps

6. JG24 = 86 Laps

7. PRO_Zappacostta = 65 Laps

8. ChrisM = 62 Laps

9. Alex Scribner = 33 Laps

10. Bill Busick = 26 Laps

11. Ryan Moyer = 24 Laps

12. PRO_Buck = 16 Laps

13. Josh Linville = 13 Laps

14. PRO_Jackson = 10 Laps

15. PRO_Howard = 9 Laps

If the chase were to start right now, the top 10 in points would be...

1. PRO_KT - 5020
2. ChrisM - 5020
3. PTR_MoOutlaw - 5020
4. RGRacing - 5010
5. Slim_njd - 5010
6. PTR_86Low - 5010
7. PRO_Buck - 5000
8. PRO_Sedlacek - 5000
9. PRO_Racenute - 5000
10. PRO_Howard - 5000

*Does not include drop weeks...
*Wins count for 10 points at the start of the "chase"
* Tie breakers are broken by top 5's, then top 10's. If all those are equal, then it becomes number of 2nd place finishes, 3rd, 4th, etc.

PRO_KT extended his points lead with his second place finish, and his first top five finish since a 3rd place run at USA all the way back in March! KT will be using a drop week at Nashville, as he will be attending the cup race in dover. Expect him to return strong, however, and continue his momentum in the coming weeks!

ChrisM rebounded from a late race spin at Iowa by scoring his 6th top five finish of the year with a 5th place run at Rockingham. Chris ran between 3rd and 8th all day, never quite contending for the win, but a solid car at the slick one mile track. Chris ran very well at Nashville last year during the Chase for the Cup, scoring a second place finish after leading many laps early on. Expect that Chris will be a top five contender again next week.

PRO_Buck ran solidly in the top 10 at Rockingham, and appeared early on to have a car that might contend for the win. Unfortunately, a botched pit stop would put Buck deep in the field after the first caution period. Despite his best attempts, passing in traffic would prove difficult, and Buck would struggle to get track position the rest of the race. A late spin found him the last car on the lead lap, though Buck eventually rebounded to a 10th place finish. PRO_Buck finished 6th at last year's event in Nashville, but he would certainly like to capitalize on KT's abscence with another top five finish this week.

PRO_Sedlacek struggled at Rockingham, starting 14th, and eventually finishing just outside the top 10 in 11th. Never one of Ed's favorite tracks, he struggled to find the handling on his Ford. However, by keeping the nose clean, he avoided disaster and kept himself up in the point standings. It will take some more perserverance this week on the concrete oval in Nashville.

PRO_Racenut managed a ninth place finish in his Chevrolet, his third top 10 of the season. Although he tended to fall back on the start, his tire saving driving style would allow him to reel the other drivers back in, and it paid off for him this week. Despite being plagued with mechanical problems this year, Racenut has taken over the fifth position in points, leapfrogging PRO_Howard by 11 points. Racenut has scored two top 10's in the last three races, and will be looking for his first top five of the year in Nashville.

*** The points may recieve a shakeup next week, as we will start calculating the "drop" races. There are five drop races (best 21 of 26) so next week points will be calculated using the best 7 of 12 races that we will have run. Total points and races run will be available as well, although they mean somewhat less. Those who haven't run at least 7 races as of next week are going to be somewhat disadvantaged, however the top 30 can compete for the "Chase" in the last 10 races. Those who do not qualify for the Chase can still run the races, but will not score championship points.

Congratulations to RGRracing for his second win of the season at Nashville! RGR is the first driver to win back to back races in the league, and once again led the most laps in the race.

The series heads to Charlotte next week. THIS IS A POINTS EVENT, as we will be taking off the Memorial day weekend during the 600 mile Nascar race. Remember, we are a NO SIGN UPS League, so just show up, qualify, and race!

We have had some really great races so far, and would love to have some new winners to put up on the front page! Check it out at premiumracing.com!

Congratulations go out to PureCry for his victory in the Charlotte 120 presented by Premium Racing Online!

It was a great race, one of the best of the year in this author's opinion. At the end, the final forty lap stint came out to a battle between Ryan Moyer, PRO_JRW and PureCry as they challenged hard for the lead.

Ryan Moyer led, and was making the high side work as PRO_JRW tried to slip underneath. For 15 laps, these drivers duked it out, running side by side, with Moyer trying to hang on for the win. PureCry watched as the race unfolded, saving his tires and waiting for his chance.

Finally, PRO_JRW muscled his way past Moyer, and set sail. PureCry chose that moment to pounce, and drove underneath Moyer to take away the second position. It would be ANOTHER great fifteen lap race for the lead, as JRW now had to defend his position against a hard charging PureCry.

On the last lap, JRW looked like he was going to hang on, but PureCry would not be denied. Going into turn three, he gave JRW a bump, sliding his dodge into the upper groove. JRW kept his foot in it, sliding back down, with both cars making contact. PureCry, despite being dead sideways, held on, taking the lead out of turn four as JRW spun through the infield.

PRO_Racenut overcomes his mid-pack qualifying run to capture his first victory of the year at Michigan! A great battle ensued between J_Riddle, PRO_Zappacostta, and Racenut over the last 20-30 laps. At the end, Racenut got out front and drove away.

There was a lot of good racing all through the pack at Michigan, as drivers ran high and low. Be sure to join in on the fun!

This week we are running the first of two road courses, at New Jersey Motorsport Park! Break out your shifters and come on in!
