Every time I try to launch the Client it says it has encountered an error and needs to close. :-?

Fixed it: ran the C++ file, then the inst file in the root folder and now it runs. 8-)

OK.... I'm pretty new to this ASR...or ASR 08...stuff. Anyway, I downloaded the Client...installed 1142. Everything seemed to go smoothly. So, here's the stupid question:

When it was finished installing, it didn't place an icon on my desktop. So, exactly how do I get ASR 08 to run? Does the DVD still need to be in the tray? Also, keep in mind I have Vista 64-bit if that makes any difference. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm anxious to try this out now that I have a much better rig.

Go to Computer>OS (C:)>Program Files (x86)>ARCA 08> ARCA and right click and select create shortcut (move this to your desktop folder if it didn't already go there).

Make sure when you start it to right click and select "Run as Administrator". DVD is not needed...

Once you get the shortcut on your desktop Right click it then go: Properties> Shortcut> Advanced> then click the "Run as an Administrator" box. That way it automatically runs it as an admin every time you double click it.

my thoughts on the new way of working.. not too crazy about it. i was hoping that being i have to start over with ASR that with all that time downloading and waiting that it would have been the latest version of ASR but it is not and has to patch itself as soon as it was done. so im just a little upset with how it is done and would prefer that it come as the latest build of ASR in ways like the downloads of rFactor are done on ISI's website. makes it a lot easier and more appealing to people that dont want to have to sit and wait for more than an hour to play the sim. just my $.02 though not like it matters to yall
